Victorian minimum standards: my checklist before a new lease

Before each new lease I walk the property with the rental minimum standards in hand. Consumer Affairs Victoria has the details: consumer.vic.gov.au/housing/renting Locks, heating in the living area, window coverings in bedrooms, mould and damp, and the electrical and gas checks. What else is on your list?

    Smoke alarms every year, and gas and electrical checks every two years in Victoria. I put the dates in my calendar.

    Ventilation in the bathroom. That's where mould starts.

    In Queensland the list is different but the idea is the same. Do the walk through before the photos.
